When a Tree is About To Fall, Does the City of Atlanta Listen?

Trees are down everywhere all over Atlanta this morning.  And yet, the City of Atlanta Arborist Division has not taken action on trees they documented months ago as threatening public streets or public property.  Do we have to wait for these trees to fall on someone before the City decides to start the paperwork required to get them removed?

Removing nuisance trees can be a lengthy, time-consuming process, which is probably why the City shows such little interest in making sure these trees are removed.  But this is the job that we taxpayers are paying them to do.  To simply ignore known nuisance trees exposes the City to expensive negligence and liability claims, as well as puts the public at a risk that, as we tragically saw this morning, can be fatal.

  1. Will it take someone dying when a dead street tree falls on them as happened several years ago on North Highland ?
Peter Aman Atlanta COO you know what needs to be done.
Now is the time to act before the blood is on your hands!
